Many elite-level athletes come from a world where they have been nurtured by those around them. I wouldn't go as far as to say they have been protected, but there can be a case made for that.

Then, when they get to the college ranks, they are being put under intense pressure. To perform at the highest level in front of hundreds of thousands in the stands and millions more on television. Mental health has never been a more important subject or a more important hot topic item in athletics than it is today. That is especially the case at a place like The University of Alabama.

Our guest this week on The Secrets to Winning is Ginger Gilmore-Childress, the Director of Behavioral Medicine for The University of Alabama athletics and a pioneer in NCAA athletics. Athletic departments across the country are studying, learning, and trying to emulate what Ginger has built - a gold-standard, groundbreaking department built on the mental well-being of student-athletes.
