It’s more than just a play call. It’s a lifestyle. This week, The MindSide Podcast brings on “Kick-Six” (Auburn Football) announcer, Rod Bramblett, to share his wisdom and life lessons he has learned from being a sport’s announcer. An announcer creates the vision for the listener at home, and it’s not as easy as it seems. You must know the people, the stats, the opponents, the personalities, it’s about “treating it like studying up for a quiz.”

In this podcast, Rod talks about the preparation and the work that goes into his profession along with the attitude needed to excel such as the acceptance of constructive feedback.

“The day when you think ‘I got this all down pat,’ is the day you’re probably going to get fired.”

Starting as a DJ for a local news station, Bramblett worked hard to become one of the best sports announcers in the field. Once he landed a sports announcer position the work didn’t stop there. “You have to be mentally strong and mentally committed to making both your home and your professional life work.”
